Dr. Virendra Swarup Memorial Trust

Dr Virendra Swarup Memorial Trust was founded by Shri Ragendra Swarup in 1981 in the cherished memory of his father; noted parliamentarian and Chairman of Uttar Pradesh legislative council and great pioneer of education -Dr Virendra Swarup. It also marked the formal foray of illustrious Swarup family in the sphere of 10+2 level English medium schools. Swarup family has an unparalleled track record in the field of education for over 100yrs .It controls and manages Dayanand Shiksha Sanstan, which is one of the largest Education body in North India with over 50 schools and Degree colleges and over 1 lakh students under its aegis in Dehradun, Kanpur and other parts of North India. It also manages the prestigious D.A.V colleges in UP and Uttaranchal.

Since its inception, the trust has been striving to set new standards in the field of pre-university and university level institutions. In the year 1982, the first Educational Institution 'Dr. Virendra Swarup School ' was started in Civil Lines, Kanpur City. In 1985 was set up another institution of pre-university level- Dr. Virendra Swarup Memorial Public School at McRobert Ganj in central Kanpur (now Dr. Virendra Swarup Memorial Public School, Civil Lines, Kanpur) affiliated to the Council for ISC Examination, New Delhi.

In 1988, the Trust came up with Dr. Virendra Swarup Public School at Kanpur Cantonment, also affiliated to the Council for ISC Examination, New Delhi. Soon thereafter 1989 saw the emergence of Dr. Virendra Swarup Senior Secondary School, the first U.P. Board stream, English medium 10+2 level institution on the academic horizon of Kanpur City. In short time these institutions carved a niche for themselves as the premier & the best institutions imparting quality & modern education up to pre-university level in the sprawling metropolis of Kanpur City. In 1994, the Trust resolved to take the torch to other parts of the State. Consequently Dr. Virendra Swarup Public School was set up at Sector 'C', Mahanagar in Lucknow. In 1997 the preparatory section at Dr. Virendra Swarup Public School, Civil Lines was segregated and converted into 'The First Avenue', a Preparatory School affiliated to Dr. Virendra Swarup Memorial Public School, Civil Lines, Kanpur City.

In 1999 at the threshold of 21st Century, the Trust embarked upon an ambitious plan for setting up 21st Century School in all premier towns of UP. The 21st Century School is new concept whereby schools will be fully equipped for modern and high quality education in tandem with the needs and challenges of the century. The first such institution "Dr. Virendra Swarup 21st Century School" was started in 1999 at Govind Nagar, in South Kanpur City. The Trust also upgraded from 1999, all the other schools run by it to the status of 21st Century School.

The Trust also promoted in the year 2000, "National College of Advanced Studies"(NCAS) an English Medium institution of higher education the first of its kind in the state offering especial courses in Carrier Oriented Subjects. As a part of NCAS 's management faculty, "College of Management Studies" was also started to run an exhaustive MBA course duly recognized by A.I.C.T.E a government body.

Subsequently, a grand & imposing school which is an architectural treat was commissioned as a befitting tribute to the sacred memory of our dear founder Shri Ragendra Swarup on his 46th birth anniversary, in Agra City in the year 2003, it's the 9th and the latest full-fledged educational institution to join the chain of Dr Virendra Swarup Memorial Trust schools.

The Trust has embarked on an ambitious plan to open a series of 21st Century institutions in all leading urban centers in the states of UP, Uttaranchal & National Capital Region (NCR) like Noida, Gr. Noida, Allahabad, Bareily, Aligarh, Varanasi, Dehradun etc. in the near future.
